Environmental Project Manager/Engineer

Salary:  $65,000-$75,000 DOQ

BASIC FUNCTION:
Manages a variety of assignments within the Environmental Division, including primary responsibility for assigned environmental remediation projects.  Duties include the development of cleanup strategies, negotiations with regulatory agencies and other potentially liable parties, management of Professional Services Agreements with consultant teams, and designated responsibilities under Agreed Orders or Consent Decrees with regulatory agencies.  Position performs project management/engineering assignments to design, permit, and construct environmental remediation projects.  This involves coordinating the work of consultants and in-house staff, performing technical and complex work designing and permitting; prepare plans and specifications; performing owner representation and inspection during construction; and providing coordination with the Port’s operating departments and tenants through-out all phases of the project. The position requires internal and external communication and coordination, including demonstrated leadership and credibility as a representative of the Port on environmental policies, programs and projects.  Knowledge and experience in environmental regulations, relevant scientific and technical areas, budget management, public involvement, and project management are required. In the absence of the Director of Environmental Programs, may assume Director’s responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor of Science degree in a field directly applicable to the principles and practices of environmental site remediation management (including Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, and Natural Resources) with 4-8 years of environmental site management experience. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the effective management of environmental projects under the Model Toxics Control Act and other relevant laws and regulations. Licensed Geologists, Professional Engineers, EITs, or Certified Project Managers are encouraged to apply. Certified completion of 40-hour Hazardous Materials Training required within 6 months of employment.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
