There are four membership categories: regular (ports), life, retired and associate. WPPA members receive discounted registration fees for education and training programs. Other membership benefits include legislative advocacy, public awareness, research and information services, and publications. The four types of membership are:
Public port districts formed under the laws of Washington State are eligible for regular membership. Currently, 69 of the state’s 75 ports are members.
Individuals, business firms and industries with a bona fide interest in the aims and goals of WPPA may become Associate Members after review by the Executive Committee. Membership affords recognition and discussion from the floor, but does not include voting privileges. Associate members are given many opportunities at conferences to network with port officials. We offer an “Associate Member Reception” at the spring and fall conferences where they can highlight and exhibit their products and services. An Associate Members’ Resource Directory is provided to member ports throughout the state and includes a summary on each WPPA Associate Member and the services it provides.
Individuals who have distinguished themselves through service to the port industry and the Association are granted WPPA Honorary Life Membership by a vote of the Board of Trustees.
Retired Membership in the Association keeps retired port commissioners and employees in touch with former colleagues and lets them join in a growing port family across the state. Retired members are invited to all seminars, meetings and workshops at a cost afforded member ports. If you would like to join WPPA as a Retired Member, please give us a call.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for most WPPA meetings. These are ideal opportunities for WPPA Associate Members to gain the attention of a targeted key audience. Sponsors are recognized in pre-meeting marketing materials, in the seminar agenda, on signs prominently displayed at the event, and in announcements made during the event. Sponsorships are available for breakfasts, lunches, receptions and program elements.
