DIRECTORS SEMINAR WELCOME AND AGENDA

Dear Port Directors:

The Annual WPPA Port Directors Seminar is one of the most valuable events that you can attend each year, and it is time to mark your calendars and make hotel reservations for this year’s gathering.  Many of you have mentioned over the years that this peer-to-peer interaction is the most valuable seminar that you attend.

This year’s Port Directors Seminar will be held at the Adrift Hotel and Spa in beautiful Long Beach on July 13 and 14.  Hotel information is listed below.  In keeping with recent tradition, we are also having an optional off-site reception the evening prior to the event at the Salt Pub in Ilwaco.

Registration for the Directors Seminar is $295.  You can register on-line by clicking on the link on the left hand side of this page.  Your spouse/partner is most welcome at our evening social events; although we will need to know ahead of time to ensure enough room.

9:30 am        Managing a Board that Lacks Consensus

10:15 am      Planning and Managing a Meeting on a Controversial Topic

11:00 am      Managing Succession in Staff and Commission

12:00 pm      Lunch

1:30 pm        Short Attention Span Theatre:  Communicating with Your Community

2:15 pm        How Do You Get the Training You Need?

2:45 pm        What Would a Functioning State Economic Development Program Look Like?

3:30 pm        Adjourn for the day

HOTEL/TRAVEL/ REGISTRATION
The Adrift Hotel and Spa rooms are $115 per night for single and double occupancy rooms (one queen bed {25 rooms of this type are available in our block} or one king bed {10 rooms of this type are in our block}).  The lodging cutoff date for room reservations is Thursday, June 29.  Please make your room reservations now in order to take advantage of the special group rate; our block may sell out prior to the reservation cut-off date.  Reservations can be made by calling (360) 642-2311 or (800) 561-2456, reference the Washington Public Ports Association when reserving your room.  Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m.
