Feds OK Seaport Alliance; Will Seattle, Tacoma ports wrangle over return of Shell rig?

The federal government has given a green light to the ports of Seattle and Tacoma putting their maritime operations under one roof.

A big dangling question is what effect this will have on the politics of Shell Oil’s Arctic drilling rig, if and when it returns to the region.

The Federal Maritime Commission announced Tuesday that it had unanimously voted to allow the Northwest Seaport Alliance to become official on July 23.
