Software company coming to Richland research park A New York-based software company is opening a Richland office, lured here by a strong Tri-City education system and a desire to be closer to Microsoft — but not too close.

Horizon Lines to modify Alaska ships Three Horizon Lines containerships that regularly call at the Port of Tacoma will be equipped with new emission control equipment to reduce pollution on their route between Tacoma and Alaska, the shipping line has announced.

Congestion, ILWU woes slam TEU volumes on West CoastOverwhelmed by congestion and hampered by International Longshore and Warehouse Union work slowdowns, West Coast ports saw their container volume drop 6 percent in December. For calendar year 2014, the ports were barely able to register a 1 percent gain.
