 Aviation education center proposed for Bremerton airport

A 20-minute flight can lead to a lifetime in aviation.

That’s the belief of Experimental Aircraft Association members who volunteer to take young people flying through the organization’s Young Eagles program. The pilots wing their young passengers over the Kitsap Peninsula, while talking to them about flying and, it’s hoped, sparking an interest in aviation.

The trick is sustaining that interest once the young flyers are back on the ground, said Mike Friend, president of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s local chapter.

Port of Vancouver, Wash. Names Marler permanent CEO

The Pacific Northwest port has elected interim Chief Executive Officer Julianna Marler, who has held the post since May 2016 following the resignation of then-CEO Todd Coleman, to the permanent position of CEO and executive director.
