Port of Seattle makes land development a central part of mission to bring living wage jobs to region

The Port of Seattle is turning new attention to harnessing its industrial lands for economic benefit.

Now that maritime cargo management is being handled by the Northwest Seaport Alliance, a joint venture between the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, Port of Seattle Executive Director Ted Fick said his organization is transforming the real estate division into an economic development division. Among other things, it will redevelop unused port properties, especially 26-acres in Seattle’s Interbay neighborhood.

Port of Poulsbo considers expansion attempt

The Port of Poulsbo will try another annexation attempt, following a failed 2014 measure that would have doubled the port district’s size.

“It’s a fairness issue,” said Jim Rutledge, port commissioner. “The borders of the port district are essentially what the borders of the city were 20 years ago.”
