Whatever shortcomings the candidates for the Port of Bremerton Commission District 1 might have, experience is not among them.
For Cary Bozeman, a win in the Nov. 3 general election would signal a return to the port. He left his post as mayor of Bremerton in 2009 to become Port of Bremerton CEO, a job he held until 2011, when health issues forced him to retire. With his health restored, Bozeman hopes to rejoin the port as a commissioner.
While lacking Bozeman’s local fame, John Poppe, 62, is a prolific public servant in his own right.
Port of Port Angeles commissioners to eye raising rates for Boat Haven moorage at Tuesday meeting

Port of Port Angeles commissioners are expected to hear a staff recommendation Tuesday that Boat Haven moorage fees be raised and perhaps to drop the other shoe on a question that’s lingered for months.
Commissioners could act on the proposal, which would feel like a kick in teeth to a citizens committee that wants to reduce the rates, according to the panel’s chairman.
