The Port of Bellingham announced plans today for a major waterfront redevelopment project.
The project will expand layouts for two maritime tenants – All-American Marine and Fairhaven Shipyard.
For All-American, it means a new 39,000-square-foot facility and 27 new employees. Fairhaven will get a new facility layout and $7.6 million to replace their wooden pier.
The new pier will allow increased load capacities for repairs to bigger ships. The pier replacement will also allow contaminated sediments to be cleaned up.
All-american’s facility will be repaid with a 25-year lease with the Port.
The Port also plans to apply for more funding through the county’s Economic Development Investment Program.
