Washougal, Wash. – October 8, 2012
The Port of Camas-Washougal today announced the opening of a new art display in the lobby of the port office, showing the watercolor talents of Washougal artist Karen Stark. Examples of Stark’s watercolor art on display are depictions of a winter scene, Multnomah Falls, a Sternwheeler paddle wheel, and landscape of the Columbia River Gorge, among others.
The artwork will be on display through the end of the year. Stark has won several awards from the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society, won Best of Show in the Camas Wine, Art and Music Festival and has had her work published in many newspapers and magazines. The port continues to solicit original art, including landscape paintings, wildlife photography, northwest fishing, aviation and other recreational activities. The port also encourages local artwork that supports themes that reflect the port’s mission as an economic engine, recreation sponsor and historical and cultural institution.
The criteria for art submissions and how to apply are found on the port website at http://portcw.com/index.php/about/art_display/. The exhibits are free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 24 South ‘A’ Street, Washougal, 98671
