Port of Pasco Hires New Economic Development & Marketing Director
(Pasco, WA) On Monday, December 16, Gary Ballew will join the Port of Pasco as the Director of Economic Development and Marketing. Mr. Ballew is a longstanding community leader with an extensive career in marketing and economic development.
In this newly created position, Mr. Ballew will be responsible to market and utilize Port land, infrastructure and other economic development assets to expand and diversify the Port District economy and bolster the tax base. He will work closely with all jurisdictions in the Port District to facilitate regional development that will be advantageous to the growth and fiscal health of the Port district.
“Because of Gary’s extensive background and experience, he was a natural choice for this position,” said Randy Hayden, the Port’s Deputy Executive Director.
Mr. Ballew received a master’s degree from Washington State University and is a Certified Economic Developer through the International Economic Development Council. He has worked in the economic development field for over 18 years, most recently at the City of Richland as Economic Development Manager.
His past accomplishments include the creation of the Wine Science Center Development Authority, a Public Development Authority tasked with developing the Wine Science Center at Washington State University Tri-Cities; the Revitalization Area for Industry, Science and Education (RAISE), a tax increment finance district through Washington State’s Local Revitalization Financing program; and, the management, marketing and sale of surplus real estate for the City of Richland.
