Port of Seattle Commissioners Vote 3-0 to Raise Salaries

By Emily Heffter, March 12, 2013, Seattle Times

The Port of Seattle Commission voted 3-0 today to raise their salaries from $6,000 a year to what state legislators are paid: about $42,000 a year. The change was carefully proposed by Commission President Tom Albro, who said he won’t take the money. The commission is only four members right now, pending the swearing-in of appointee Courtney Gregoire on Friday. One commissioner, Bill Bryant, was traveling. Bryant opposed the salary increase.

No one spoke about the salary increase in public comments at the meeting this afternoon. The three commissioners — Albro, John Creighton and Rob Holland, voted without comment.

Today was Holland’s final meeting as Port Commissioner; he is stepping down Friday.
