Greetings Destination Partners:
We are excited to share a new initiative to support tourism development across Washington State via a Port of Seattle Tourism Grant. The intent of the program is to enhance our region’s attractiveness as a tourist destination by promoting tourist options in the state for visitors who use the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Port cruise terminals or Port marinas.
Applicants can apply for up to $10,000.00. Port funds can only be used for advertising, publicizing, or otherwise distributing information. No Port funds can be used to underwrite general or capital expenses associated with a tourism event or projects already in progress.
Eligibility include non-profit organizations in which the primary goal is to attract visitors for Washington through tourism promotion including – destination marketing organizations such as chambers, CVBs and regional tourism organizations; public sector organizations such as events, festivals, association, attractions, recreation and entertainment venues; government entities such as counties, cities, port districts, Indian nations, or state/federal agencies; and organizations exempted from Federal Income Tax under Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code. No qualified entity may serve as a fiscal agent for a non-qualified entity.
Please do share this tourism grant opportunity with your community and membership. If there is a non-profit organization that you would suggest the Port reaches out to directly, please let me know.
Interested parties should visit www.portseattle.org/tourism for details and the application. Attached below is an introductory letter from David McFadden, Port of Seattle, Economic Development Director, a list of frequently asked questions and the Tourism Grant application.
Applications must be submitted electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday, March 31, 2016. Winners will be announced April 29, 2016.
We hope that you find our new Tourism Grant to be of interest. The Port of Seattle is eager to develop great partnerships to promote the majestic and diverse state of Washington. Questions can be directed to Patti Denny below.
