Port of Vancouver announces 2014 public tour schedule
VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Port of Vancouver USA will hold a public tour on Wednesday, April 30, from 11:30-1 p.m. This will be the first of four public tours planned for 2014.
Port tours offer an excellent opportunity to catch a glimpse of the global marketplace in action. The free, two-hour tours will showcase the largest transportation project in the port’s 100-year history, the West Vancouver Freight Access rail project, as well as the diverse range of marine cargoes handled on port docks.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling the port at 360-693-3611 or by emailing the port at RSVP@portvanusa.com. Make sure to bring government issued photo identification to attend a tour (such as a driver’s license), and please leave your cameras at home as they are not allowed on marine terminals.
Public tours begin at the port’s administrative building, located at 3103 N.W. Lower River Road, Vancouver, where port staff makes a brief presentation on the port’s history and mission. Following the presentation, attendees participate in a bus tour of the port’s bustling marine terminals and ever-expanding industrial properties.
The remaining tour dates are:
- Thursday May 22, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Saturday, July 26, from 10-11:30 a.m.
- Thursday, September 11, from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
