Port Stunned By $2 Million DOE Grant

During Monday’s regular Port commission meeting, Department of Ecology (DOE) shocked the commission and staff with its announcement that $2 million dollars of funding has been set aside for the K-Ply mill clean up.

Rebecca Lawson of DOE was scheduled to speak at the commission meeting regarding the mill clean up, but the Port was not aware of the announcement.  “Not only are we surprised by the $2 million funding announcement, we are pleased to work in concert with DOE toward the mutual goal of putting the K-Ply land back into productive use for Clallam County,” stated  Port Executive Director, Jeff Robb.
