Public invited to join port commissioners for coffee and conversation
VANCOUVER, Wash. – Port of Vancouver USA Commissioners Jerry Oliver, Brian Wolfe and Nancy Baker will host nine “Commissioner Coffees” in 2013, and the public is encouraged to attend.
First up is Brian Wolfe, who will be visiting Peet’s Coffee & Tea, located at 16501 SE Mill Plain Blvd., Ste. 100, Vancouver, this coming Monday, April 1, from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. Community members can stop by and share a cup of coffee and their thoughts anytime during the two-hour event.
Throughout the spring and early summer, commissioners will take turns visiting local coffee shops within the port district in an effort to meet with constituents, answer questions and share ideas related to port projects and plans. Suggested topics of conversation include trade, job creation, industry, freight, environmental stewardship and economic development.
During the visits, complementary coffee will be offered along with a request to take an informal survey aimed at collecting input on current and future port activities. Data gathered during the visits and through the survey will be used to inform future commission outreach activities, including the annual Commission Forum, when the three port commissioners participate in a televised forum, answering questions and relaying information about the port.
