Dear Port Colleagues and Friends:
Please join me at the WPPA 2018 Spring Meeting May 9 – 11 at the Hilton Hotel in Vancouver, Washington.
We are hoping to continue making this an interactive policy discussion, where we gather input and ideas, and where our committees will shape work plans and ideas for 2018 and beyond.
This event will also continue with the optional port “Training Institute,” where we focus on skill-building and increasing the port community’s knowledge of core areas. This year’s institute will offer two concurrent modules: one on the Public Records Act and Open Public Meetings Act and one module on Port Planning.
Afternoon concurrent policy seminars will focus on the new port powers in Broadband and sources of funding for them, and Workforce Training Programs, what is out there and can we improve them? Of course, we will keep the port reports and roundtables.
The training sessions on Wednesday morning are optional, but we all hope that you can send at least some of your staff or commissioners.
I look forward to seeing all of you in Vancouver!
Troy Stariha, Commissioner
