24 HOURS: A LOOK AT WASHINGTON STATE AIR TRAFFIC

Today, December 26th is one of the busiest travel days of the year at Sea-Tac International Airport — millions of people will be flying into or out of Washington’s largest airport.

In 2018, with an average of 136,000 passengers per day, Sea-Tac Airport was the 8th busiest airport in the country and the 29th largest in the world.  The airport that was built in 1949 to handle half a million passengers is now handling almost 50 million passengers. See more details on SeaTac’s capacity and visitors at the Port of Seattle blog.

Washington’s skies are a fascinating place — at a roundtable meeting during our 2019 WPPA Annual Meeting, Josh Brown, Executive Director of the Puget Sound Regional Council presented a video compressing flights into and out of the Puget Sound’s regional airports from 24 hours into a one-minute clip.
