Need some good news? Port of Seattle halves some emissions 10 years ahead of schedule

Do you need a good news story this week? An innovative contract to heat the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and power its bus fleet with renewable natural gas means the Port of Seattle will halve these emissions nearly a decade ahead of schedule.

The Port of Seattle Commission approved a new contract to supply renewable natural gas, also called biomethane, to power its bus fleet and to heat the Sea-Tac Airport. About 75% of the Port’s greenhouse gas emissions come from burning natural gas and making the switch will reduce yearly emissions by about 11,000 tons—all 10 years ahead of their goal.
