House and Senate compromised capital budget proposal includes good news for ports

Today the House and Senate released their capital budget proposal compromise.  These documents are the first set of three supplemental budgets that will be unveiled in the coming hours, as the legislature counts down to adjournment on Thursday, March 10.

Ports fared well in this budget, outpacing historic funding levels for individual capital projects, for broadband funding and CERB.  Here are the numbers:

  • Broadband infrastructure funding

    • State Broadband Office $50M

    • Public Works Board $25M

    • CERB $25M

  • Core CERB funding for local public economic development infrastructure

    • $40M

  • Individual port district capital projects

    • $ 23.796M

Wednesday we are expecting compromise supplemental operating and transportation budgets and a new revenue transportation bill.  Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
