New Grant Program for Local Park Maintenance

New Grant Program for Local Park Maintenance

Do you have a maintenance backlog and need a quick infusion of cash to clear it up? If so, you’ll be excited to learn that the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) is kicking off a new grant program to tackle park maintenance projects.

The new Local Park Maintenance grant program will offer up to $100,000 for deferred maintenance at local parks, such as fixing a leaky picnic shelter, patching or repainting a basketball court, replacing rotted tables and fences, or replacing an old maintenance truck with a new one. Routine maintenance tasks such as mowing fields or cleaning bathrooms are not eligible for funding. Development or renovation projects like creating a new sports field or adding lights to a facility also are not eligible in this program. Grant guidelines are on the LPM web page.

RCO is hosting an applicant webinar at 10 a.m. August 15. Register here. A recording of the webinar will be posted on the website after the webinar.
