Salmon recovery and the importance of dams to communities across Washington

The Washington Public Ports Association supports statements made by the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association and the Northwest River Partners about a study of comprehensive salmon recovery solutions announced by Governor Inslee and Senator Murray.  WPPA’s members support thoughtful actions to achieve recovery results.  We are confident that a science-based review will support the multiple benefits provided by dams on the Lower Snake River. 

We call on Governor Inslee and Senator Murray to resist loud voices demanding radical action and diminishing peer-reviewed expertise.   Our members look forward to meeting with Governor Inslee and Senator Murray to discuss pragmatic pathways to recover salmon, grow local economies, and achieve the state’s carbon emission reduction goals.
