F-1 CHANGES COMING: UPDATE FROM THE PDC
The Public Disclosure Commission is rolling out several important changes to personal financial affairs disclosure reporting in the months ahead.
IMPROVED FILING EXPERIENCE
The PDC is building a new electronic application which will offer a guided experience to help elected officials report the correct information.
SMALLEST DISTRICTS EXCLUDED
PDC-requested legislation passed in 2019 raised the threshold for who must file the F-1 from 1,000 registered voters to 2,000 registered voters.
ONLINE ACCESSIBILITY
Financial affairs disclosure reports that are filed on or after Jan. 1, 2020, will be available online to the public.
REVISED REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
Judges, prosecutors, and sheriffs, and their immediate family members, do not have to report residential addresses, as of Jan. 1, 2020.
Dollar-code ranges used for reporting the value of compensation, real estate, assets and debt on the F-1 will expand to provide more meaningful disclosure.
REPORTING MODIFICATION REFORMS
The PDC has streamlined the application for exemptions from disclosing sensitive information and added protections for personal safety concerns.
Reporting modifications granted by the commission no longer have to be renewed every year in all cases.
