Introducing the first ever digital port awards- nominations are due June 1st

While our Annual Spring Meeting may have been cancelled, we know that your port hasn’t stopped doing extraordinary work. In fact, during this crisis, we’ve all been called to grow, stretch and flex in ways we never imagined.

We want to honor ports across Washington who have gone above and beyond this year. There are four awards- environmental stewardship, creative partnership, outstanding job creator, and community outreach—details on each award type are below.

You can either nominate another port for an award, or you can apply for your own port’s project. Please take the criteria listed in the descriptions below to create your application, and keep it to less than two pages of 12-point font. Please email your completed application to Missy Goodell at mgoodell@washingtonports.org.

All applications are due no later than 5pm on Monday June 1st.

Environmental stewardship

The environmental stewardship award goes to a project that results in a substantial improvement to the natural environment. This could mean habitat restoration or enhancement, air or water quality improvement, recycling, energy conservation, public or tenant education—but this award is not limited to these areas.

Creative partnership

The creative partnership award is about the spirit of creating coalitions- bringing groups, organizations, or individuals together to advance a port project, goal or initiative.

Outstanding job creator

An outstanding job creator is a port who has created high quality, impactful jobs for their community. This award recognizes extraordinary job creation activity.

Community outreach

Community issues matter to ports, and this award highlights exemplary community engagement with port district residents to drive toward a positive outcome on an effort or project.
