WPPA Awards former Executive Director of the Port of Ephrata Mike Wren a Life Membership
The Washington Public Ports Association is pleased to announce that Mike Wren, former Executive Director of the Port of Ephrata, has been selected to receive a Life Membership to the Association. Michael Wren became the Director of the Port of Ephrata in April of 2005. His number one priority was to build strategic partnerships across private organizations as well as city, county and state governments. These partnerships then become the launching pad for successful projects in the region that focused on growing jobs and the local economy.
Though clearly aware of the elements needed for success within the Ephrata Port District boundaries, Mike recognized that success by other organizations within the county and throughout the state ultimately meant success for Ephrata. Mike looked for opportunities to invest in success and in doing so over his 16 years as Director, served on the Washington Public Ports Association (WPPA) Executive Committee as Treasurer, was the Chair of the WPPA Aviation Committee, Chair of the Big Bend Community College Board of Trustees, President of the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce and Grant County Economic Development Council Board President.
Mike holds a Bachelor’s of Science of Occupational Education degree from Wayland Baptist University and is one class shy of his Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Science through Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, majoring in both Aviation Operations and Aviation Safety. He is a certificated pilot for both manned and unmanned aircraft as well as a certificated Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic. He moved to Soap Lake, Washington in 2004 from Anchorage, Alaska after completing a 20 year military career in the U.S. Air Force. He has been married to his wife Suzan since 1981 and they have a daughter, who is currently a Captain in the U.S. Air Force on assignment to the Pentagon in Washington DC as a Public Affairs Officer.
