#TransportationThursday, July 22: Bipartisan Infrastructure Package delayed by failed Senate vote
By Chris Herman, Senior Director of Trade & Transportation
The $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Package was delayed Wednesday after a key Senate vote failed to generate the necessary votes to begin deliberation of the measure by the full Senate. The legislation, a key cornerstone of President Biden’s Build Back Better campaign promise, continued to be worked by the bipartisan group of 22 Senators which work directly with Biden on the framework of the deal. Wednesday’s vote is likely only a minor set back as most Legislative and indeed most Americans continue to strongly support increased funding for infrastructure.
We will keep you updated as transportation funding continues to work its way through the federal legislative process. Also coming soon to a future #TransportationThursday—a spotlight section highlighting ports’ transportation projects.
