New transportation package proposal, “Moving Ahead Washington,” released
Earlier this afternoon, legislative transportation chairs Representative Jake Fey and Senator Marko Liias introduced a $16.8B, 16-year transportation package called “Move Ahead Washington.” This is the first significant new transportation revenue since Connecting Washington was passed in 2015. The new package prioritizes $5.4B in Climate Commitment Act dollars, spends $3B for the preservation and maintenance of the state’s transportation infrastructure, fully funds obligations for fish passage improvements, backfills important existing Connecting Washington projects like the Puget Sound Gateway Program, and proposes funding for a handful of new projects.
WPPA is evaluating the legislative proposal and will have a detailed analysis of Move Ahead Washington this afternoon, followed by a blog and other informative tools that tell the story of this proposal and how ports may benefit.
