Please join us in remembering firefighter, friend and Port of Kalama Commissioner Alan Basso this Friday afternoon, December 11th, 2020. The Remembrance will include a Fire Service Procession, Pipe & Drum escort through Cross Tipped Ladder Trucks with Garrison Flag, Honor Guard Services and Last Call and Bell Ceremony – all of which will be live streamed.
It is estimated the Procession will come into livestream view approximately 2:50 pm and enter the service location approximately 3:07. Remember, times are approximate so please login to the livestream early to ensure you don’t miss viewing.

Port of Kalama Commissioner Alan Basso, described as a “genuine person…important friend of the entire community…upbeat personality,” passed away last Friday, November 27 at the age of 59. Commissioner Basso was a fixture of public service in the Kalama community, serving not only as a port commissioner, but also a firefighter and a substitute teacher.
His extraordinary dedication to community service underlies Commissioner Basso’s deep commitment to the people of Kalama. During his tenure as port commissioner, Basso’s list of accomplishments for his community included:
· Construction of the Port Office and Interpretive Center
· McMenamins Kalama Harbor Lodge
· Development of Spencer Creek Business Park
· Marina modernization
· Development of Haydu Park
· Construction of two warehouses for Steelscape
· Construction of a large multitenant warehouse building
· Remodel of the TEMCO grain elevator
Commissioner Alan Basso leaves behind his wife, Vicky, and his daughter, Brittany. The Washington Public Ports Association shares in the collective grief felt by Commissioner Basso’s family, and the wider Kalama community.
