Responding to the Seattle Times story on regulating water temperature at federal dams

You may have seen the headline in Tuesday’s Seattle Times, “Washington state aims to regulate water temperature at federal dams, wading into controversy.” The article details the continued focus on water temperatures in the Columbia River, and the state’s interest in mitigating any negative impact to wildlife such as salmon.

Our members at the Washington Public Ports Association value the multiple purposes the federal dams provide as pillars in our regional economy.  We will continue to support the federal system operators as they work to recover endangered salmon and provide carbon-free power to our region.
