Legislative leadership extends some key waivers until May 31st—with an exception

On May 4th, leadership in the legislature agreed to extend the waivers on the Open Public Meetings Act and Public Records Act, among others, until May 31st, with the exception of the 5-day response window for public records requests, which is only waived until May 11th.

This extension reflects the reality of continued social distancing requirements in the state of Washington. WPPA will continue to work with legislative leadership to ensure the concerns of ports are recognized in future discussions.
